Belief work is an essential part of ThetaHealing. It is the part that can be easily interpreted and understood from a psychological viewpoint. It is a way to open a portal directly into the subconscious mind to create change within it.

Through observing people in belief work sessions, it seems that there is a bubble of protection around the ocean of the subconscious mind - at least in some people. This field of protection is created in a natural process in order for the hard drive of the subconscious mind to insulate us from pain, or what it perceives might be painful to us, should we attempt to change what we refer to as a “program”.

Programs

Our brains work like a biological supercomputer, assessing information and responding. How we respond to an experience depends on the information that is given to the subconscious and how it is perceived and interpreted. When a belief has been accepted as real by the subconscious mind, it becomes a “program”.

“Programs” may be formed over a lifetime, or they may arise from childhood. When we are children, for example, our experiences with change can teach us that certain things are painful or even dangerous. For instance, it can be traumatic to change schools. If other unwanted changes take place, say our parents divorce or a family member or friend dies, a bubble can begin to form around our subconscious as a means to insulate us from that pain. Some people refer to this bubble as “walls”.
